Yesterday was Super Tuesday. We watched the results and I found myself rooting for one candidate over the other. I have been very wishy-washy in my support, not being too thrilled with either – for various reasons that I won’t go into now. However, after hearing one of them speak or hear someone speak about “their” candidate, I think, “Hmmm, that sure sounds good. Maybe I’ll vote for him/her.” As I said, I’ve been very wishy-washy. But last night, I think I finally decided who should get my allegence (at least that’s how I feel at this moment).
Coming home, I read an article that further made me feel that I have made the right decision. Obviously, I’m not ready to let anyone know of this decision. I’ll think about it for a few days and see how I feel about it on Saturday – caucus day.
Both Clinton and Obama came out with strong backing after yesterday’s primaries. Neither one can be called the winner yet. These are interesting times.

Super Tuesday
February 7, 2008Washington Caucus
February 5, 2008Next Saturday is the Washington Caucus. My husband and I are precinct captains. We went to a training session last week. There is so much new information that we were exposed to – necessary forms to fill out, set up procedures, tallying processes, etc. There are so many, many volunteer “man” hours that have been put into this project. I really do wonder if the effort is worth the results. How important is Washington’s vote in this election? Sure we all want to have our say, but other states hold more importance(for various reasons) and will probably make the decisions that count. By the time Washington votes on the 9th, the rest of the country will have set the stage. We vote Saturday for our delegates that then vote for the county delegates who then vote for the state delegates. The state delegates then go on to vote in the national election. There are super-delegates that aren’t committed to any specific candidate and then there is the Washington state primary. It is a very complex process and my role at the “grass-roots” level doesn’t make a ripple in the pond. Democracy certainly should be easier than this. Why can’t we all write our candidates name on a piece of paper, fold the paper in two, place it in a locked box, and have the papers counted? Brilliant idea. I should tell someone about that!
Discovery Park
February 4, 2008Went to Seattle Friday night to babysit. Busy night as Alyia (16 months old) was fussy and kept waking up. I was DELIGHTED when Mom and Dad came home and took over. Whew! Saturday it wasn’t raining and we drove to Discovery Park. Quite a fabulous park. We hadn’t been there before, although the kids have. This park has some very special views of the islands and the waters surrounding them. There are paths and trails going every which way – lots of bikers, dogs and dog walkers, runners, etc. We walked down to the beach – stopping half way as we needed to save energy for Aidan (4 1/2 yrs) to return. He’s way too big to carry!
This park is a place we will need to return to. I bet the views are specatulor on a clear day. Saturday it was overcast and the mountains weren’t totally visable.
